Photoshop and LightZone
LightZone is built to work seamlessly with Photoshop. LightZone is not intended as a replacement for Photoshop. What is the difference between Photoshop and LightZone?
Photoshop is a multi-purpose graphics editor and LightZone is a dedicated photo-editor. There are some similarities, but each has different features and capabilities.
Is LightZone a plug-in for Photoshop?
No LightZone is a complete application and will function on its own.
I already own Photoshop, why would I use LightZone?
LightZone is a dedicated photo editor and will allow fast editing of photos. LightZone speaks the language of photographers and can quickly produce results that will take hours in Photoshop or can't be done with Photoshop alone. If you are a high-end photographer, LightZone is a formidable tool that will give you that extra edge.
Can I use LightZone instead of Photoshop?
If you are a home photographer, you can use LightZone by itself and avoid the steep learning curve and price of Photoshop. If you need to prepare images for ads or publication, then you'll need Photoshop. LightZone doesn't provide tools for adding text, shapes or airbrushing undesirable portions of an image. LightZone doesn't handle gif, png or other graphic formats.
