Intelligent Tools

LightZone's intelligent editing tools help adjust exposures, boost overall color, correct color shifts and white balance errors, sharpen or blur, remove dust spots and reduce the noise often found in high-ISO digital photographs.

LightZone's intelligent tools use patented image analysis technology that understands photographs and helps make better editing decisions and produces higher quality images. The tool stack operations are always live, taking the guesswork out of the process. What you see is what you get.

Maximum flexibility.

All edits in LightZone are layered in a tool stack allowing them to be arrange and re-arranged at will. In turn, each tool can be fine-tuned to apply to a specific region in the photograph, creating selections and masks that can be moved or changed even after the edit is applied. Most tools work with a blend mode that controls how the effects of tools in the tool stack blend together to form the final photo.

And of-course, LightZone provides professional features to crop and rotate your photographs.

ZoneMapper
Button-ZoneMapper
A very common problem in photography is that images appear underexposed (dark and undefined) in certain areas, over-exposed (bright and undefined) in others and usually, correctly exposed near the focal point of the camera.

The ZoneMapper corrects that problem by automatically breaking the photograph down into 16 exposure zones (implied selections) allowing highlights, midtones, or shadows to be adjusted immediately, individually and with ease.

Black and white
Button-Black_and_White
The B&W tool allows you to convert your color photo into a black-and-white photo and individually control the red, green, and blue channels. An easy to use strength control adds to colorization

Color balance
Button-Color_Balance
Reducing color casts is most easily done for photos that were taken under mixed lighting conditions and have easily identifyable neutral grays.

The Color balance tool allows you to adjust the color balance of your photo around a specified point of the tonal range. Additionally, the Color balance tool also allows you to reduce color casts by selecting neutral gray points, that is points that you want to be neutral gray in your photo.

Sharpen
Button-Sharpen
Most digital photos have a slight softness in the fine details and would benefit from sharpening.

The Sharpen tool allows you to sharpen all or parts of your photo using a technique based on the tradition of using an unsharp mask in a darkroom to increase the perception of sharpness by emphasizing edges.

Red Eye removal
Button-Red-Eye
The Red-Eye tool allows for easy and accurate correction of red eye problems.

Re-light
Button-Relight
The Re-light tool allows you to adjust the global and local contrast of all or parts of your photo.

The Re-light tool does this by reducing the large scale contrast and, at the same time, increasing the local contrast. This mimics the behavior of the human visual system and makes your photo more appealing and easier to work with.

Spot
Button-Spot
The Spot tool allows you to remove round dust, scratches, blemishes, or other unwanted items from your photo.

Clone
Button-Clone
The Clone tool allows you to copy an area of any shape of your photo to another area. This can be used to remove unwanted items from your photo.

White Balance
Button-White_Balance
The White balance tool allows you to adjust the white balance and tint of your photo to compensate for color cast in the light source such as the blue cast of the sky or tungsten lighting.

Blur
Button-Blur
The Blur tool allows you to blur all or parts of your photo by a specified radius. This can be used to soften grainy or blemished areas, or to create out-of-focus areas.

Noise reduction
Button-Noise_Reduction
The Noise reduction tool allows you to reduce "noise" that is often present in digital photos as a result of the sensors in digital cameras. The tool reduces noise in either chromaticity or luminance (or both).
