Powerful Workflow

LightZone employs powerful ways of managing photographs to support the workflow of photo-editors. A major enhancement in LightZone 3 is the default behavior to store the Tool-stack inside JPEG (and no longer in separate LZN files, unless specifically chosen). Now any application that reads a JPEG has direct access to the photographs edited in LightZone.

Ranking photographs, batch processing, inspecting and editing metadata in addition to seamless integration with other photo databases like Adobe Lightroom and Apple Aperture and iPhoto are crucial to ensure the best-of-breed editing capabilities of LightZone can be used in any scenario.

Photo browser

The Photo Browser allows you to select a photo to view it at full size, inspect its metadata, rotate, rate, edit, export, print, copy & paste, drag & drop, rename, and delete the photograph.

Send and Convert

SendConvert
The send feature quickly prepares your images for lower resolution JPEG distribution via e-mail or to your favorite web publishing application. Convert takes that one step further and converts your selected photographs to many more formats and, if desired, to another color space.

Smart Select

Button-Select_Recent
This new feature selects only the recent versions of the photographs in this folder. Followed up by drag-and-drop, send or convert, the last versions can quickly be send to your favorite location or application for web publishing.

Stack / unstack

Button-Stack
Stacks and unstacks the multiple revisions in your photographs to show only the most recent versions.

Lift and Apply

Lift
Lifts the Tool-stack so the edits applied to one photograph can easily be applied to another, or a group of photographs.

Batch processing

When a set of photographs need to be converted into a single look, batch processing of a Style will do the trick. Photographs can also be exported to deliver converted photographs for external purposes.

RAW editing

LightZone is the only photo-editing application that allows edits to RAW photographs without the need to convert them. Find out more about RAW support here.

Edit Metadata

Metadata-en
Edit the meta data of your photograph and automatically share this data with other applications. Populate your copyright information from the preferences.

Rate

Catalog your photographs by rating them allows you to quickly find the photographs you need.

Sort

Photographs can be sorted by date, rank, filename, aperture, shutter-speed, lens and focal length.

Drag-and-drop

One or multiple photographs can now be dropped directly in the photo browser directories to make a duplicate copy, dragged to another application in the dock to open with the selected photographs or dragged to the filesystem to make copies to another location.

Proof

Proof
Creates a live proof of what the image would look like in another color space, right in the edit tool-stack. All editing decision can then be made based on the actual visual appearance on the output medium.
